Kyle Garlick - Starting rehab assignment Wednesday Garlick (rib cage) said he will report to Triple-A St. Paul to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Impact Garlick noted that the pain in his bruised rib cage has gone down significantly since he was first placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 4, so he may need only one or two rehab games before he's deemed ready to rejoin the big club. He could be activated as soon as Friday, depending on how he fares on the rehab assignment. When healthy, the righty-hitting Garlick has been a fixture in the lineup versus left-handed pitching.

Kyle Garlick - Close to rehab assignment Garlick (rib cage) is progressing toward taking live at-bats and could begin a rehab assignment within a few days, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Impact Garlick has been on the injured list since Aug. 4 with a bruised right rib cage. The righty-hitting 30-year-old outfielder has been a key weapon against left-handed pitching this season, producing a .928 OPS in those matchups.

Joe Ryan - Strong showing in loss Ryan (9-6) took the loss Sunday against Texas, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out six in 6.1 innings.

Impact Ryan retired the side in order in each of the first three innings but ran into trouble in the fourth when Marcus Semien put a 3-1 pitch into the seats for a solo homer. He held the Rangers scoreless over the next two innings and was removed with one out and a man on third in the seventh. It was the first time he pitched at least six innings in his last eight starts. He has a 4.15 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB in 21.2 innings over four outings in August. His next start will likely be at the end of next week against San Francisco.
