Impact Correa wasn't in the lineup for Monday's matchup against the Tigers, and the Twins found out during the game that the shortstop had tested positive for COVID-19. Since Royce Lewis (knee) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, Correa's absence will leave Minnesota particularly shorthanded at shortstop. Jorge Polanco, Nick Gordon and Jose Miranda should be in the mix for additional playing time while Correa is away from the team.

Impact Gray made it into the seventh inning of a strong start Sunday against the Royals before exiting with right pectoral soreness. Whether or not he'd have to miss more than just two turns in the rotation if a trip to the injured list does wind up being required is not yet clear.

Impact Miranda was optioned Sunday that Royce Lewis could take his place on the roster, but he'll return one day later as Lewis hits the injured list with a bone bruise in his right knee. Miranda hit a very disappointing .164/.200/.284 in 19 games prior to his demotion, but that brief stretch isn't enough to conclude that he doesn't have what it takes to succeed at the highest level.

Impact After being recalled Sunday, Lewis suffered the knee injury while making a catch in the fourth inning and he will now be out for at least 10 days. The 22-year-old has produced a .300 average with two homers, four doubles, five RBI and five runs over 40 at-bats in 12 games with the Twins this season. Jose Miranda was called up from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday to take his spot on the 26-man roster.
