Reaches base three timesSimmons went 2-for-4 with a walk and scored a run in Thursday's 6-5 loss to Milwaukee.
ImpactSimmons had a productive 2021 regular-season debut, hitting singles in his first two plate appearances and walking in his third. Minnesota added the shortstop primarily for his defense, but Simmons has consistently hit for a respectable average and stolen a few bases throughout his career. Scores twice Opening DayYelich hit 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI in Thursday's 6-5 win over Minnesota.
Impact2021 is already off to a better start for Yelich than last season when he recorded only one hit in his first six games. A dominant spring training and strong Opening Day indicate that Yelich is primed to prove 2020 was an outlier and return to his 2018-19 form. Yelich doesn't have a ton of protection in Milwaukee's fluid, platoon-heavy lineup, but there are competent enough options to hit behind him that pitchers can't completely avoid the 2018 NL MVP.

ImpactIt was only one game, but Rogers was used earlier in the game to face key left-handed batters while Alex Colome was used in the ninth inning with a three-run lead. Colome blew the save chance, so performance could dictate save opportunities more than anything, but for now it looks like Colome may get the majority of save chances even without Baldelli defining any roles.
