Anthony Volpe - Runs wild in Saturday's winVolpe went 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and three stolen bases in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Twins.
ImpactThe rookie was Christian Vazquez's worst nightmare, stealing second base in the fifth inning and then second and third in the eighth without being caught once. Volpe is a perfect 6-for-6 on pilfers through his first 15 MLB games, and the rest of his offense is beginning to come around as well as he's hit safely in four straight games, reaching base seven times in 15 plate appearances during that stretch.

Domingo Germán - Fans 11 in first winGerman (1-1) picked up the win in Saturday's 6-1 victory over the Twins, allowing one run on three hits over 6.1 innings. He struck out 11 batters and walked none.
ImpactThe right-hander was absolutely dominant in his best performance yet in 2023, as German generated 18 swinging strikes among his 78 pitches. There was a bit of a dark cloud hanging over the outing however, as he was checked twice for foreign substances, only for the umpires to determine they couldn't find anything actionable. Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli got ejected for disputing that decision. German sports a 3.86 ERA and 19:5 K:BB through three starts and 14 innings, but he lines up for a tough test in his next trip to the mound, which is likely to come at home next weekend against the Blue Jays.

Tyler Mahle - Stumbles against YankeesMahle (1-2) took the loss Saturday, giving up four runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks over 4.1 innings as the Twins were downed 6-1 by the Yankees. He struck out five.
ImpactThree of the four hits off the right-hander went for extra bases, including homers by Kyle Higashioka and Anthony Rizzo, but it was Mahle's own error that tempered the damage to his ERA. He tossed only 53 of 90 pitches for strikes before exiting, and Mahle will carry a 4.11 ERA and 18:5 K:BB through 15.1 innings into his next outing, likely to come next week in Boston.

Josh Donaldson - May return SundayDonaldson (hamstring) "feels completely healed" and is hoping to be activated from the IL on Sunday, Randy Miller of NJ Advance Media reports.
ImpactDonaldson began raising the intensity of his workouts earlier this week and appears to be just about past the strained right hamstring that landed him on the injured list April 8. According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, the veteran third baseman "looks good" and is "moving well." Donaldson is eligible to be activated Sunday, though the Yankees are off Monday, so they may opt to take advantage of the extra recovery day and wait until Tuesday to bring him off the IL.

Oswald Peraza - Active at Triple-APeraza is 4-for-14 with two RBI and one strikeout in three games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre since returning from a minor hamstring injury.
ImpactHe only ended up missing four days with a hamstring injury. All told, the 22-year-old shortstop is slashing .289/.357/.316 with zero home runs and five steals in nine games. He had a 23.2 percent strikeout rate at Triple-A last season, but so far he is down to a 19 percent strikeout rate in his return to the level. Peraza will bide his time in the minors until an injury or underperformance results in playing time opening up in the big-league infield.
