Finally goes on IL The Dodgers placed Betts on the 10-day injured list with right hip inflammation. Impact Los Angeles spent the hours leading up to Sunday's series finale against the Rockies weighing whether to place Betts on the IL before ultimately pulling the trigger on the transaction minutes before opening pitch. Ideally, the Dodgers would have made the call earlier, as Betts failed to quickly shake off the hip injury and ended up sitting out each of the past seven contests. Due to the timing of the IL move, Betts won't be eligible to return to action until Aug. 1, when the Dodgers conclude a series with the Diamondbacks. Billy McKinney, Matt Beaty and Luke Raley appear to be the main candidates to pick up work in the outfield while Betts is on the shelf.
