Sean Reid-Foley - Not yet throwing Manager Carlos Mendoza said Tuesday that Reid-Foley (shoulder) has yet to begin a throwing program, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Impact Reid-Foley has been on the injured list since June 22 due to a right shoulder impingement -- the same injury that forced him to miss nearly a month to begin the season. Mendoza noted that it's possible the right-hander begins throwing Wednesday, but even if he does, it's unlikely he makes it back into the Mets' bullpen before the All-Star break.

José Buttó - Summoned to help bullpen The Mets recalled Butto from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact All seven of Butto's 2024 appearances with the Mets to this point have come as a starting pitcher, but he will be used in relief this time around in order to provide some length for an overused bullpen. The right-hander has collected a 3.08 ERA and 38:21 K:BB over 38 innings in the majors this season.

Tyler Jay - Returns to Triple-A The Mets optioned Jay to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Impact The 30-year-old had his contract selected by New York on Sunday and appeared in Monday's matchup with the Nationals, allowing four runs (three earned) in two-thirds of an inning. Jay will return to Syracuse, where he has a 2.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 36 frames this year.

Jake Diekman - Nabs second win Diekman (2-2) picked up the win Monday as the Mets downed the Nationals 9-7 in 10 innings, throwing a scoreless ninth without a walk or strikeout.

Impact The lefty made a throwing error to lead off the inning, putting James Wood at second base, but Diekman was able to prevent the Nats from walking it off before the Mets erupted for six runs in the top of the 10th. Diekman has seen a heavy workload since the beginning of June and his numbers have suffered -- through 7.2 innings over his last 12 appearances, he's stumbled to a 5.87 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 4:6 K:BB, but he does have a win, two saves and two holds during that time.

Harrison Bader - Two stolen bases against Nats Bader went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in Monday's extra-inning win over the Nationals.

Impact Batting second against southpaw MacKenzie Gore, Bader was disruptive from the top of the order, singling and swiping second base in the sixth and seventh innings. The 30-year-old center fielder has reeled off four two-hit performances in his last six starts, batting .360 (9-for-25) during that stretch with three doubles, two homers, four steals, four RBI and eight runs.

J.D. Martinez - Slugs go-ahead homer in extras Martinez went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer and two walks in Monday's 9-7 win against the Nationals.

Impact The New York designated hitter blasted a titanic 420-foot homer off Hunter Harvey in the 10th inning to break the tie. The round tripper was a welcome sight for Martinez, as he entered this contest on a bit of a cold spell, slashing .211/.333/.342 across 47 plate appearances in his previous 10 games with just one homer. The veteran power hitter now sports a .278 with 10 home runs, 37 RBI and 22 runs scored in 209 at-bats overall.
