Jose Iglesias - Swipes bag in Sunday's loss Iglesias went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Reds.

Impact With Jeff McNeil (wrist) done for the year, the door is open for Iglesias to get a starting role at second base down the stretch for the Mets. The 34-year-old infielder has been remarkably productive since joining the team in late May, and he's slowed down only a little in the second half, slashing .278/.326/.329 over 86 plate appearances since the beginning of August. Iglesias offers effectively no power and only a little speed, but consistent playing time will still give him some fantasy upside in deep formats.

Eddy Alvarez - Traded to Mets The Mets acquired Alvarez from the Red Sox on Sunday in exchange for cash considerations.

Impact It's a move that replenishes some organizational utility depth. Alvarez, 34, has spent all of the 2024 season at Triple-A Worcester, posting an .811 OPS with 18 home runs and 18 stolen bases while making starts at six different positions.

Paul Blackburn - No longer starting Monday Blackburn (hand) is no longer scheduled to start Monday's game in Toronto, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact The Mets will give a spot start to Tylor Megill instead. Blackburn could be pushed back a day to start Tuesday in Toronto, although the team has not yet confirmed as much. He's missed the last two weeks with a right hand bruise but tossed 6.2 innings of one-run ball in a rehab start with Triple-A Syracuse last week.

Tylor Megill - Starting Monday's game Megill will start Monday's game in Toronto, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact Paul Blackburn (hand) had been slated to come off the 15-day injured list to start Monday, but the Mets have elected to give the ball to Megill instead. Megill will be pitching on normal rest after yielding three runs over four innings in a start last week against the Red Sox. He could be moved to the bullpen following Monday's outing.

Impact Severino held the Reds off the board through six and nearly made it out of the seventh unscathed but a two-out RBI single by Noelvi Marte knocked Severino out with the game tied at one. It was the fourth time in his last six starts that Severino has struck out at least eight and the fourth time in five starts he's allowed no more than one earned run, holding a 1.95 ERA over that stretch.
