Brandon Nimmo - Sitting amid slump Nimmo is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Impact Nimmo received a day off last Thursday in Colorado after he had gone 2-for-16 over his previous four starts, but the veteran outfielder doesn't seem to have benefited much from the break. While starting in each of the Mets' ensuing five games following the day off, Nimmo went 1-for-16 with four walks against six strikeouts. Nimmo doesn't appear to be in danger of losing hold of his everyday role in the New York outfield, but his .171/.271/.244 slash line since the beginning of August could nonetheless put him at risk of being held out of the lineup more often.

For the season, he's up to a .246/.329/.475 slash line, 26 homers, 68 RBI, 68 runs scored, 27 doubles and three stolen bases over 120 games.

David Peterson - Walks four in win Peterson (7-1) allowed an unearned run on three hits and four walks while striking out four over 6.1 innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Athletics.

Impact This was the sixth time Peterson has gone at least six innings, and it was one of his strongest outings this year. The one concern that remains is his high walk rate -- he's issued at least three walks in five of his last six starts and has a 4.3 BB/9 this season. Peterson has managed to post a 3.04 ERA despite a 1.39 WHIP and 56:34 K:BB through 71 innings over 13 starts on the year. He's projected for a tougher home start versus the Orioles early next week.
