James McCann - Scratched from spring lineupMcCann was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros due to back tightness, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
ImpactMcCann is scheduled to receive further evaluation from the Mets' training staff, but the team doesn't believe the injury is a serious concern at this juncture. Tomas Nido will get the nod at catcher in McCann's stead, forming a battery with ace Jacob deGrom in the latter's first start of the spring.

ImpactHernandez gets a raise in his first year of arbitration eligibility despite the fact that he's coming off an injury-filled year. Biceps and quad injuries sent him to the 60-day injured list twice, but he recorded a respectable 4.18 ERA in 11 starts when healthy.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. - Dealing with bruised handChisholm was diagnosed with a right hand contusion after exiting Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
ImpactChisholm left the contest after a grounder took a bad hop and hit him in the right hand. While he could have been in line for a lengthy absence had he suffered a fracture, it looks as though he's escaped with merely a minor injury. He's expected to return in two or three days.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. - Exits with apparent injuryChisholm left Tuesday's game against the Cardinals after a bad hop hit him in the right hand or wrist, Joe Frisaro of ManOnSecondBaseball.com reports.
ImpactThe severity of the injury is not yet clear. Chisholm's early exit may be nothing more than an abundance of caution given the low stakes of a Grapefruit League game, and he could be back within a few days if he's dealing with nothing worse than a bruise. If he instead suffered a fracture, he could miss time at the start of the regular season, opening up at-bats for Jon Berti.

Edwin Díaz - Gets $10.2 million from MetsDiaz and the Mets agreed Tuesday on a one-year, $10.2 million deal to avoid arbitration, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
ImpactAfter going 32-for-38 in save chances and producing a 3.45 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 25.7 K-BB% over 62.2 innings in 2021, Diaz will be rewarded with a $3.2 million salary increase in his final year of arbitration. Though all three of those ratios represented dramatic steps back from his marks during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign, Diaz was still one of MLB's better-performing end gamers. Despite having some high-profile blowups on his resume over the past couple years, Diaz looks like one of the safer closer investments on draft day.
