Cedric Mullins - Showing patience early onMullins is 2-for-9 with three walks over his first Grapefruit League games.
ImpactMullins posted a career-high 9.6 percent walk rate last season, but that was offset by a .233 batting average. The outfielder is two years removed from his 2021 breakout, and the emergence of Gunnar Henderson (oblique) will likely lead to Mullins batting in the bottom half of the order more often. If Mullins can't hit more consistently, he could also lose at-bats versus left-handed pitchers.

James McCann - In line for backup dutiesMcCann is 2-for-14 over his first five Grapefruit League games.
ImpactThe Orioles look set to run it back with Adley Rutschman and McCann as their big-league catchers. McCann got into 70 games last season, hitting .222 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 25 runs scored and three stolen bases over 226 plate appearances. Playing behind a young star like Rutschman means McCann is unlikely to see significant work aside from Rutschman's off days behind the dish and the occasional DH duty.

Yoendrys Gómez - Cut from big-league campThe Yankees optioned Gomez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday.
ImpactGomez made his MLB debut late last season with a scoreless two-inning appearance but was never a likely bet to crack the Yankees' Opening Day roster. He made one Grapefruit League appearance with New York during spring training and gave up two runs on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. Gomez pitched well as a starter at Double-A Somerset last season with a 3.58 ERA across 65.1 innings.

Connor Norby - Set for spring debut SundayOrioles manager Brandon Hyde said Norby (side) will make his spring debut as a reserve in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com...
ImpactNorby has been slowed in camp due to slight left side soreness, but the injury shouldn't be anything that prevents him from being ready to go for the start of Triple-A Norfolk's season in April. Hyde didn't say whether Norby would be deployed in the field or eased back in as a designated hitter Sunday, but the 23-year-old is likely to check into the contest in the later innings.
MARCH 3ROTOWIRE
Gunnar Henderson - Should play MondayManager Brandon Hyde said Henderson (oblique) is expected to play in Monday's spring game against the Twins, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.
ImpactThe 22-year-old has yet to see the field in Grapefruit League play due to the oblique injury, but it appears he'll be making his spring debut Monday. Assuming he avoids any setbacks, Henderson will have plenty of time to ramp up his workload ahead of Opening Day.
MARCH 3ROTOWIRE
Alex Verdugo - Scratched with leg contusionVerdugo was scratched from Sunday's Grapefruit League lineup against the Tigers due to a left leg contusion, Meredith Marakovits of YES Networkreports.
ImpactThe veteran outfielder was hit by a pitch during Saturday's contest and will take at least one day to recover from the injury. It doesn't appear to be a serious issue, and Verdugo should be considered day-to-day until more information is available.
