Michael Chavis - Fourth start in six gamesChavis will start at second base and bat ninth Monday against the Blue Jays, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
ImpactChavis will essentially be filling in for Xander Bogaerts in the series opener, as regular second baseman Enrique Hernandez bumps over to shortstop while Bogaerts gets the day off. With all of Christian Arroyo (hamstring), Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) and Danny Santana (groin) residing on the injured list and none believed to be close to returning, Chavis should serve as the Red Sox's top utility man in the short term. He'll be making his fourth start in six games Monday.

Franchy Cordero - Nabs another start at first baseCordero will start at first base and bat eighth Monday against the Blue Jays, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
ImpactCordero logged only 38 innings worth of experience at first base at Triple-A Worcester prior to his call-up last week, but that's apparently enough for the Red Sox to give him a look at the position while Bobby Dalbec continues to struggle versus right-handed pitching and while Christian Arroyo (hamstring), Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) and Danny Santana (groin) are on the shelf. The 26-year-old picked up his first start at first base in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Yankees, going 1-for-3 with a run scored. Expect either Cordero or Michael Chavis to occupy the position versus right-handed pitching until the Red Sox regain some health.

Bobby Dalbec - Sits against righty againDalbec remains out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
ImpactDalbec will sit against a right-handed starting pitcher (Thomas Hatch) for the third game in a row, even with the injuries to Christian Arroyo (hamstring), Danny Santana (groin) and Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) limiting Boston's alternatives at first base. Given his struggles against same-handed pitching this season, Dalbec appears set to remain in a short-side platoon role at first base, with either Franchy Cordero or Michael Chavis manning the position versus righties.
