Hunter Dozier - Logs two hits, steal in lossDozier went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Yankees.
ImpactDozier and Whit Merrifield were the only Royals to produce multiple hits in the contest. Currently on a six-game hitting streak (8-for-21), Dozier has quietly begun to turn his season around. The 29-year-old still has a disappointing .204/.278/.360 slash line with eight home runs, 32 RBI, 38 runs scored and three stolen bases through 371 plate appearances. He is likely locked in as the starter in right field after Edward Olivares was sent down to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Whit Merrifield - Steals base in three-hit effortMerrifield went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Yankees.
ImpactThe second baseman has logged a steal in four consecutive games and in six of his last eight, though he was caught stealing for the first time since April 11. Merrifield has also put up back-to-back multi-hit efforts. He's slashing .272/.317/.389 with 33 steals in 35 attempts, 63 runs scored, 54 RBI and eight home runs through 495 plate appearances.

Brady Singer - Knocked around in lossSinger (3-8) allowed five runs on 10 hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings, taking the loss versus the Yankees on Wednesday.
ImpactIn his first start since a stint on the injured list with right shoulder fatigue, the 25-year-old allowed five of the first six batters to reach base. Singer induced double plays in the first and third innings, but he was no match for the Yankees on Wednesday. He's now at a 5.42 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 94:40 K:BB across 91.1 innings in a difficult second major-league season. Singer projects to make his next start at home versus Houston next week on six days' rest with Kansas City deploying a six-man rotation going forward.

Tyler Wade - Swipes pair of bagsWade went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a walk, two stolen bases and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-2 win over Kansas City.
ImpactThe 26-year-old made a start in left field and reached base in three of his four plate appearances. While a pair of steals is only mildly noteworthy for the speedy Wade, Wednesday was the first game all season he's logged multiple extra-base hits. Mainly as an off-the-bench utility man, Wade has a .262/.340/.333 slash line with 10 thefts, four RBI, 22 runs scored, four doubles and a triple through 94 plate appearances. He is in line for an uptick in playing time while Gleyber Torres (thumb) and Gio Urshela (hamstring) are missing from the Yankees' infield.

Chad Green - Nabs win with two scoreless inningsGreen (6-5) allowed one hit and struck out three in two scoreless innings, earning the win Wednesday versus Kansas City.
ImpactThe right-hander was awarded the win in a bullpen game that the Yankees led nearly wire-to-wire. Green has been excellent in a versatile role this year with a 3.05 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 66:12 K:BB through 59 innings. While he covered the sixth and seventh innings Wednesday, Green could also compete with Jonathan Loaisiga and Zack Britton for save chances while Aroldis Chapman (elbow) is on the injured list. Green has logged three saves and 15 holds in 47 appearances.
AUGUST 12, 2021ROTOWIRE
Zack Britton - Earns first saveBritton hit a batter in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 5-2 win over Kansas City.
ImpactBritton needed 16 pitches (10 strikes) to get through the inning, which ended when Carlos Santana grounded into a double play. This was Britton's first save of the season in 17 appearances -- he's also logged seven holds and two blown saves. With Aroldis Chapman (elbow) on the injured list, the closer role is wide open in the Bronx. In addition to Britton, Chad Green (two scoreless innings for the win Wednesday) and Jonathan Loaisiga (scoreless inning, hold) could be candidates to close out games in Chapman's absence.
AUGUST 12, 2021ROTOWIRE
Lucas Luetge - Covers two innings as openerLuetge allowed a run on two hits and struck out one in two innings in a no-decision versus Kansas City on Wednesday.
ImpactServing as an opener in his first major-league start, Luetge gave up a hit in each of his two innings and allowed Whit Merrifield to score on a Salvador Perez groundout. Luetge has been an effective bullpen arm for the Yankees this year, pitching to a 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 61:9 K:BB through 54.1 innings overall. He's added three holds and two blown saves, but he has yet to see a large run of high-leverage work.
