DJ LeMahieu - Emerging from season-long slumpLeMahieu went 2-for-4 in Sunday's loss to Philadelphia for his fourth multi-hit game over his past five contests.
ImpactOne of the most surprising early season developments for the Yankees has been LeMahieu's struggles at the plate. Through his first 56 contests, he was batting a meager .253 after posting a career-best and AL-leading .364 average in 2020. The veteran has begun to turn things around of late, however, raising his average eight points since June 8 and collecting exactly two hits in four of his five games during that span. LeMahieu's decline this season has some substance behind it -- his 16.7 percent strikeout rate is on pace for his worst mark since 2015, and his .082 ISO pales in comparison to the .226 mark he posted last season -- but there is still plenty of time for him to turn things around. Fantasy managers who used substantial draft capital to add LeMahieu to their 2021 squad may be best served to hope his recent offensive surge builds rather than to cast him off after his slow start.

Bailey Falter - Call-up coming MondayThe Phillies are expected to recall Falter from Triple-A Lehigh Valley ahead of Monday's series opener in Los Angeles against the Dodgers, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer r...
ImpactAccording to Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Phillies are expected to deploy Falter as a "piggyback" pitcher behind Monday's starter, Spencer Howard, who hasn't covered more than four innings in any of his three starts to date. A tandem-starter arrangement between Howard and Falter could serve to maximize the effectiveness of both pitchers while also keeping their innings in check over the course of the season. Like Howard, Falter is one of the more prized young arms in the organization, and he proved worthy of a stiffer test after a strong start to the season at Triple-A. Through his seven outings at Lehigh Valley, Falter posted a 1.82 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 42:8 K:BB in 29.2 innings.

Luis Severino - Meeting with team doctors on tapSeverino (elbow) is scheduled to meet with Yankees team doctors Monday to receive further evaluation for the right groin injury he picked up in his rehab start Saturday at High-A H...
ImpactIn his second minor-league outing in his rehab program for Tommy John surgery, Severino retired five hitters before bowing out in the second inning with what appeared to be a painful-looking groin injury. Severino was scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday, but the Yankees likely won't reveal the results of those tests until after he's examined by team doctors. More information regarding the extent of his groin injury along with a timeline for him to resume his rehab assignment should come soon, but even if Severino's setback is deemed minor, he still may be hard-pressed to make it back from the 60-day injured list before the end of July.
