Kyle Gibson - Not having strong springGibson has struggled to a 6.75 ERA and 2.00 WHIP through eight Grapefruit League innings.
ImpactWhile it's not the spring Gibson would have wanted, it's unwise to overreact and adjust his ranking significantly based on a small sample of exhibition innings. He doesn't have particularly high fantasy appeal as a 34-year-old pitch-to-contact starter in one of the league's most hitter-friendly parks, but he's a fine late-round option in deeper leagues after producing a 3.71 ERA last season, the second-best mark of his seven-year career.

Ronald Guzmán - Heads to Triple-AGuzman was assigned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.
ImpactGuzman returned from knee surgery this spring but didn't have much time to make his claim for a roster spot, as he's only appeared in four games. He'll try to make his case in the minors for now, but his .227/.304/.414 slash line in 243 career games at the highest level isn't close to good enough for a first baseman.

José Peraza - Misses roster spotPeraza was reassigned to the Yankees' minor-league spring training Friday.
ImpactPereza joined New York as a non-roster invitee but was unable to nab a spot on the Opening Day roster. He appeared in 64 games for the Mets last season and hit .204/.266/.380 with six home runs and 20 RBI.

Phillip Evans - Fails to win roster spotEvans was assigned to minor-league camp Friday.
ImpactEvans was in camp as a non-roster invitee and was trying to win a bench job, but he'll have to keep making his case in the minors for now. After posting a .206/.312/.299 slash line in 76 games for the Pirates last season, it's no surprise he wasn't viewed as a top option.

Alec Bohm - Not guaranteed roster spotBohm isn't guaranteed a starting role or even a roster spot to begin the year, as the Phillies are considering Bryson Stott at third base, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
ImpactBohm entered the spring as the presumptive favorite at third base despite a disappointing sophomore season which saw his wRC+ drop from 138 to 75, with corresponding steps back in his strikeout rate (20.0 percent to 26.6 percent) and barrel rate (10.3 percent to 6.6 percent). He's continued to struggle this spring, hitting .208/.296/.375 through his first 10 games, which has prompted the Phillies to give more looks at the hot corner to Stott, the team's top hitting prospect. Stott's primary position is shortstop, where he also has a chance to beat out Didi Gregorius, but he can likely handle the hot corner as well. If the Phillies do elect to go with Stott as the Opening Day third baseman, Bohm may head to the minors for everyday at-bats rather than remaining stuck in a bench role.

Ben Rortvedt - Won't get into spring gamesRortvedt (oblique) isn't expected to be ready to play in any spring training games, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
ImpactRortvedt was acquired in a trade with the Twins at the start of camp but has battled an oblique strain all spring. He's expected to eventually compete with Kyle Higashioka for starts behind the plate, but Higashioka appears to be penciled in as the primary catcher to start the season, with Rortvedt likely heading to the injured list.
