Returns to Triple-A The Royals optioned Loftin to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Impact The 25-year-old was called up by the Royals on Thursday but won't stick in the majors long following the additions of veterans Tommy Pham, Robbie Grossman and Yuli Gurriel. Loftin hasn't done much while up in the big leagues this season and has a .518 OPS in 57 games.

Joining big-league club The Royals recalled Loftin from Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

Impact Loftin will replace Vinnie Pasquantino (thumb) on the active roster as Pasquantino heads to the injured list. Loftin has been with Omaha since July 30 and is slashing .199/.294/.248 with Kansas City this season. The 25-year-old should see plenty of work at first base, though the Royals should give Salvador Perez some opportunities at the position.

Impact The 25-year-old will lose his place on the big-league roster after the Royals acquired Paul DeJong from the White Sox on Tuesday. Loftin has a .199/.294/.248 slash line with one homer in 55 MLB games this season.

Logs second steal Loftin went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Friday's 12-5 win over the Yankees.

Impact Loftin had started to skid a bit, going 2-for-14 over his previous five games before turning things around Friday. The infielder has logged two steals over his first 19 contests in the majors after posting seven steals in 88 minor-league games this season. His best attribute so far has been steady hitting -- he's batting .323 with an .803 OPS, no home runs, 10 RBI, 10 runs scored, five doubles and a triple over 68 plate appearances.

Swipes first career bag Loftin went 2-for-3 with two RBI and his first MLB stolen base in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Guardians.

Impact Getting the start at second base and batting sixth against Cleveland lefty Logan Allen, Loftin collected multiple hits for the third time in his last four games to boost his slash line in the majors to .359/.419/.538 through his first 43 plate appearances. Impact Loftin has hit safely in seven of his nine games so far, and three of them have been multi-hit efforts. Impact Loftin's debut can be considered a success after he was one of six Royals with multiple hits in the blowout win. The infield prospect slashed .270/.344/.444 with a 13.1 percent strikeout rate and 9.7 percent walk rate over 82 games with Triple-A Omaha this year, which suggests he has the batting eye to be selective at the plate.
