Impact Odor, who left Saturday's game with tightness in his right oblique, underwent tests following game that indicate the injury is less serious than anticipated. "He seemed to be better than we anticipated," manager Chris Woodward said. "We don't know if it will be [injured list] but I think we dodged a bullet on missing some significant time, which I was happy about because when he came out I wasn't too optimistic." Nick Solak, who started in left field Saturday, replaced Odor at second base.

Impact Finding a defensive home for Solak has been a goal for the Rangers since the start of spring training in February. They looked at him in center field and third base, but he's blocked at those positions. His best position, second base, belongs to Rougned Odor at this time. The Rangers planned to have him work at first base during the second half of spring training, but the pandemic put a halt to that. If he can capably handle first base, that would be the solution. The Rangers were getting little from either Ronald Guzman or Greg Bird this spring, so it could be a home for Solak's bat. He led the Rangers with a .393 on-base percentage over a limited sample size of 135 plate appearances in 2019.

Designated hitter is not an option at this time, because Shin-Soo Choo is the team's primary DH. They looked at Solak in center field during spring training and decided he wasn't ready for that. The 25-year-old's best position is second base, but Rougned Odor is there. One scenario that could emerge is an Odor slump. He has a history of that, and the Rangers are less likely to give him the time needed to work through his issues. Solak will also take groundballs at third and first base this summer and can also play left field if needed.
