Throwing without restrictions Syndergaard tossed a bullpen session Thursday and indicated that he's been able to throw all his pitches without worrying about his surgically repaired right elbow, Rhett Bollinger... Impact Syndergaard underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2020 and didn't make it back to the big leagues until late September of last season. He ended up pitching only two innings for the Mets, but that was enough for the Angels to take a gamble on his arm and sign him to a $21 million contract in the offseason. Indications are that the right-hander is feeling strong out of the gate this spring, as he stated that he has been able to throw with "conviction" in live batting practice. Syndergaard has plenty of upside given the body of work he has posted in the past, but fantasy managers should be aware that pitchers coming off Tommy John surgery have historically experienced mixed results.
