Impact Syndergaard made his first rehab appearances with Brooklyn on Thursday and threw 16 pitches over an inning of work, and he's slated for a slightly heavier workload his second time out. Keep in mind that Syndergaard is throwing just fastballs and changeups, as he has been instructed to scrap his curveball and slider, the latter of which caused his May setback. The right-hander isn't building up as a starter as he returns from Tommy John surgery, which should allow him to return as a bullpen piece for the Mets down the stretch.
