INJURIES

Lands on IL with blister Syndergaard was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a right index finger blister, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact Syndergaard has dealt with a blister problem off and on for the last month or so and also cracked a fingernail during Wednesday's outing versus the Reds. He'll be eligible to return later this month, but this could offer an opportunity for a reset for the struggling Syndergaard. With Julio Urias (hamstring) due back soon, Syndergaard was probably going to lose his rotation spot, anyway.

Impact It was another rough outing for Syndergaard, whose season ERA now sits at an unsightly 7.16. The veteran has given up five or more runs in each of his past three starts and has allowed six homers across 14 innings during that span. Syndergaard was bothered by a blister on his pitching hand during spring training and developed a cut on his right index finger during a start in early May, and it appears that he hasn't fully healed. According to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, he may be headed for a stint on the injured list; even if that doesn't happen, Syndergaard could lose his spot in the rotation given his struggles, the eminent return of Julio Urias (hamstring) and the emergence of rookie Bobby Miller.

Will remain in rotation Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Syndergaard will make his next start against the Reds on Wednesday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Impact Syndergaard has really struggled as of late, and is coming off a start against the Nationals on Wednesday where he allowed five rive runs over five innings and he was fortunate to come away with no decision. Syndergaard is going to have to start pitching more effectively to say in the rotation, but he'll get at least more chance with an outing against the Reds in the middle of next week.

Allows six runs versus Tampa Bay Syndergaard (1-4) took the loss Friday, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk over six innings in a 9-3 loss to Tampa Bay. He struck out three.
Impact After allowing at least one run in each of the first four innings, Syndergaard was able to settle down and toss two scoreless frames before being replaced. Friday's outing marked just the third time the veteran has give up at least six runs this season, and his 6.27 ERA across 10 starts isn't pretty. Syndergaard isn't the strikeout pitcher he was early in his career anymore, and now, he's struggling to keep runs off the board, making him a less than ideal fantasy option moving forward. The right-hander figures to get a few more chances in the Dodgers' rotation to turn things around while Julio Urias (hamstring), Michael Grove (groin), Ryan Pepiot (oblique), Dustin May (forearm) and Walker Buchler (elbow) all remain injured reserve.

Goes five frames in no-decision Syndergaard allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Saturday.
Impact Syndergaard has been dealing with a cut on his index finger on his pitching hand, so there was some uncertainty about he'd hold up after lasting just four innings his previous time out. The right-hander gave Los Angeles moderate length Saturday, tossing 80 pitches (53 strikes) over five frames. He gave up three runs over the first two innings but finished strong, retiring the final seven batters he faced. Syndergaard has struggled with a 5.88 ERA through nine starts this season, but his presence in Los Angeles' rotation has taken extra importance with Julio Urias (hamstring) and Dustin May (forearm) both on the IL.

Will make next start Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Tuesday that Syndergaard's finger held up well during his start Monday against the Twins, and he'll make his next scheduled start, Juan...
Impact Syndergaard struck out five and allowed two runs over four innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Monday. The right-hander left his start on May 9 due to a cut on his right index finger, but his early exit was due to pitch count and not anything due to the injury. Syndergaard's next scheduled start is Saturday against the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Finishes four innings Syndergaard did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on four hits over four innings against the Twins. He struck out five.
Impact Syndergaard made his first start since exiting his May 9th start due to a cut on his right index finger. The righty tossed 59 pitches to get through four innings. Syndergaard's first season as a Dodger has not gone well. He has a 5.94 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and has struck out just 26 batters in 36.1 innings.

Ready to start Monday Manager Dave Roberts announced Sunday that Syndergaard (finger) will start Monday's game against the Twins, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact The right-hander confirmed his index finger feels good after Saturday's bullpen session, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, which clears him to pitch after exiting his previous outing due to a laceration. It's been an up-and-down season thus far for Syndergaard with a 6.12 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB across 32.1 innings.
MAY 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Bullpen session goes well Syndergaard's finger held up over about 50 throws in Saturday's bullpen session, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Impact Per Hoornstra, the next sure sign that Syndergaard will be ready to start Monday's game against the Twins will be if Gavin Stone makes his scheduled start Sunday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. While Syndergaard's health is trending in the right direction, his performance was not, as he has struck out four batters and walked three over his previous 16.1 innings.
MAY 13, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Could still start Monday Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that he's "hopeful" Syndergaard (finger) will be able to make his start Monday,Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Impact Syndergaard was able to throw again Friday with his right index finger covered, but the real test for the right-hander will be Saturday's bullpen session. If Syndergaard can come out of that session clean he likely will be on the mound Monday against the Twins, but fantasy GMs should wait and see how that outing goes before assuming he'll get the call.
MAY 12, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
IL decision coming Friday A decision on whether Syndergaard (finger) will be placed on the injured list won't come before Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Syndergaard had to be removed from Tuesday's start versus the Brewers after just one inning because of a cut on his right index finger. He was able to play catch Wednesday by covering the finger and also using a topical skin adhesive Dermabond. Neither of those things would be allowed while Syndergaard pitches, though, so he'll have to show during a between-starts bullpen session this weekend that his finger is well enough to keep him off the IL.
MAY 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Plays catch Wednesday Syndergaard (finger) was able to play catch in the outfield Wednesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Syndergaard lasted just one inning in his start in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Brewers before departing with a bleeding blister/cut on his right index finger, but the fact that he's throwing a day after suffering the injury bodes well for his chances of avoiding a stint on the injured list. The Dodgers will presumably wait and see how Syndergaard fares during a potential bullpen session over the weekend before determining whether he's fit to make his next start, which will likely fall Monday or Tuesday versus the Twins.
