Showing improved velocity Syndergaard has shown an uptick in velocity during early-camp bullpen sessions, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic on Friday.

Impact "There's going to be a marked increase in velocity (this year), in our opinion," Roberts said. Syndergaard went to Driveline over the offseason with the goal of regaining some pop on his fastball, so this news is encouraging. The right-hander averaged about 94 mph with his fastball in 2022, down 4-5 mph from his pre-injury peak. Syndergaard's velocity will be something to watch during Cactus League play.

Signs with Dodgers Syndergaard agreed to a contract with the Dodgers on Wednesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact It's a one-year, $13 million contract with incentives worth up to $1.5 million, per Joel Sherman of the New York Post. Syndergaard joined the Angels on a one-year contract for 2022, but he was traded to the Phillies and briefly dropped from the rotation late in the season. The right-hander had a 3.94 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 95:31 K:BB across 134.2 innings and should round out Los Angeles' rotation after Tyler Anderson and Andrew Heaney departed via free agency.
