Earns major-league call-up Marte was called up by the Reds on Saturday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Impact Marte joined the Reds' organization at the 2022 trade deadline in a deal which sent Luis Castillo to Seattle. The 21-year-old has split time between shortstop and third base at the two levels of the minors this season, posting an identical .820 OPS at both stops while adding 11 homers and 18 steals in 89 games. The Reds have a very crowded infield after the arrival of several top prospects this season, though Jonathan India's plantar fasciitis means at-bats are available at least in the short term for Marte to show what he can do.

Heading to Triple-A Marte has been promoted to Triple-A Louisville, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Marte missed time over the first half of June due to a hamstring strain, but he's been back in action recently and has appeared in three games at Double-A Chattanooga over the past few days. The 21-year-old has slashed .281/.356/.464 with eight homers, 37 runs, 25 RBI and 10 stolen bases over 50 games at Chattanooga this year and will now get a chance to compete against a higher level of competition.

Nursing hamstring strain Marte has been sidelined at Double-A Chattanooga since June 3 with a hamstring strain, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Impact Rosecrans says the trip to the 7-day injured list was precautionary, so it sounds like a mild strain. On the season, Marte is slashing .293/.366/.484 with eight home runs and 10 steals in 47 games. His 16.9 percent strikeout rate is the best mark of his career and this is his first exposure to Double-A pitching.

Heating up at plate Marte is hitting .365 with seven home runs, four steals and a 12:8 K:BB in his last 85 at-bats at Double-A Chattanooga.

Impact Marte got off to a slow start in his first exposure to Double-A pitching, hitting .186 with 17 strikeouts in his first 15 games, but he has been dialed in since then. He has made 25 starts at shortstop and nine starts at third base, with the hot corner being his most likely long-term home.

Impact While Marte has been a high-profile prospect since 2019, this is his first exposure to Double-A pitching and his first season as a primary third baseman, although he hasn't completely moved off shortstop yet. The slugging infielder hasn't gotten to much power yet (.119 ISO) and has been a bit unlucky (.244 BABIP), but his 25.4 percent strikeout rate and 10.4 percent walk rate are reasonable marks for a 21-year-old at Double-A.
