Dany Jiménez - Takes loss in IL return Jimenez (1-3) took the extra-inning loss to the Giants on Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits over one inning. He struck out three. Impact Jimenez was thrown right into the mix after being activated from the IL earlier in the day, as he was called on to preserve a 1-1 tie in the 10th after closer Mason Miller had handled the ninth. Jimenez immediately faltered by surrendering a two-run home run to Jerar Encarnacion with Matt Chapman aboard, and he followed it up by conceding a solo shot to the very next batter, Michael Conforto. The right-hander bore down to record three consecutive swinging strikeouts, but the damage was done. Despite the long-ball issues in his return, Jimenez has typically been of the most trusted later-inning options in Oakland's bullpen over the last two-plus seasons, and he's therefore likely to continue seeing plenty of hold opportunities, at minimum.
