Jerar Encarnación - Will be added to roster FridayThe Giants will call up Encarnacion from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
ImpactEncarnacion, 26, began the season in the Mexican League before signing a minor-league contract with the Giants in May. Since joining Sacramento, he's hit a blistering .352/.438/.616 with 10 home runs in just 33 games. Encarnacion was once a decent prospect with the Marlins, reaching the majors for a 23-game cup of coffee in 2022, but he had just a .548 OPS and 39.5 percent strikeout rate. Miami didn't re-sign him after he struck out 200 times last season with Triple-A Jacksonville, but he's resurrected his career. Encarnacion has been playing more first base lately with Triple-A Sacramento and the initial plan seems to be to use him in a short-side platoon there.

Ross Stripling - Takes tough lossStripling took the loss against the Giants on Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He did not record a strikeout.
ImpactStripling pitched well throughout the contest, allowing the leadoff man to reach just one time over his 5.2 innings of work while surrendering only two-extra base hits. The only run he allowed on the night came on a sacrifice fly in the fifth. However, the veteran right-hander would still go on to take his fifth loss in his last six starts (dating back to May 7) due to Oakland's offense being shut out by Logan Webb. Stripling also failed to record a strikeout for the first time this season and finished the month of July with a 4.76 ERA and a 3:3 K:BB (over two starts).
