Davis Wendzel - Begins rehab assignmentWendzel (wrist) started a rehab assignment Aug. 5 with the Rangers' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate and has gone 1-for-11 with an RBI in his first three games.

ImpactWendzel has been on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Frisco since July 18 with a left wrist sprain. Now that he's playing in games again, Wendzel shouldn't be much more than a week or two away from rejoining the Double-A lineup. The 24-year-old posted a .754 OPS in 74 plate appearances for Frisco before heading to the IL.

ImpactHolt's playing time has tailed off of late with Texas facing a slew of left-handed pitchers, but he was also on the bench Tuesday versus a right-handed pitcher (Seattle's Logan Gilbert) and may have lost hold of a strong-side platoon role at third base. The 41-76 Rangers are well removed from contention and are likely eager to evaluate younger players over the final month and a half of the season, so the 23-year-old Yonny Hernandez will likely get more opportunities at third base at the expense of the 33-year-old Holt, who will become a free agent this winter.

Peters will pick up his 12th consecutive start Sunday, despite continue to struggle at the dish during his extended run of playing time. Over the past 11 games, Peters is slashing .158/.171/.289 with a 36.6 percent strikeout rate.

ImpactWith Josh Harrison (quadriceps) missing time of late, playing time has opened back up for Moreland, who started in each of the last four games while going 6-for-17 with three home runs and a triple. The lefty-hitting Moreland will move back to the bench with a southpaw (Kolby Allard) on the bump for Texas. Moreland's opportunities versus right-handed pitching could soon take a hit, as Harrison ran the bases Sunday and could be ready to rejoin the lineup Monday versus the White Sox, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com.
