A.J. Puk - Scuffling in Triple-APuk has pitched to a 1-2 record, 10.38 ERA and 1.92 WHIP across the 13 innings covering his eight appearances with Triple-A Las Vegas since being optioned May 28.
ImpactPuk opened the season at the major-league level but made just one 3.1-inning appearance before suffering a biceps injury that kept him on the shelf for nearly two months. The big left-hander has given up multiple earned runs in six consecutive appearances with the Aviators, and he's forged a massive 5.5 BB/9 and 4.2 HR/9 over the entirety of his current stint in Las Vegas. With control such an obviously prevalent issue for Puk at the moment, it appears he has virtually no path for a promotion back to the Athletics at any point in the foreseeable future.

Jesus Luzardo - Solid in return to minorsLuzardo started Triple-A Las Vegas' win over Tacoma on Tuesday and allowed one unearned run on two hits and two walks while recording four strikeouts over three innings. He also un...
ImpactLuzardo's first start back with the Aviators didn't see him at his sharpest by any means -- he threw only 26 of 50 pitches for strikes -- but the young left-hander at least kept the ball in the park, something he'd failed to accomplish in each of his last five appearances at the big-league level. Luzardo had trouble finding any sort of lasting success as either a starter or reliever with the Athletics over the first two-plus months of the season, and he'll presumably spend extended time in Las Vegas righting his ship before a return to the majors is considered.

J.B. Wendelken - Gives up run in third rehab outingWendelken (oblique) surrendered a run on a solo home run while recording two strikeouts across one inning to earn a hold in Triple-A Las Vegas' win over Tacoma on Tuesday.
ImpactThe veteran reliever was logging his third rehab appearance for the Aviators and fired 20 pitches overall, 11 which he threw for strikes. Given he remains on the injured list two days after that most recent outing, it seems likely Wendelken will get at least one more rehab appearance with Las Vegas before being deemed ready for activation.

Tony Kemp - Remains hot at plateKemp, who entered Thursday's win over the Rangers as an in-game replacement for Mark Canha (hip), went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, extending his on-base streak to 13 games.
ImpactKemp also went 2-for-3 in Wednesday's loss to Texas, which at the time marked his second consecutive two-hit effort. The veteran has evolved into one of the Athletics' most consistent offensive performers, posting a well-balanced line of seven doubles, two triples, four home runs, 17 RBI, four steals, 27 walks and 26 runs on his way to career-best .863 OPS across 170 plate appearances.
