Gets first hold Sewald recorded his first hold in a win over the Rangers on Saturday, firing a perfect eighth inning during which he recorded a strikeout.

Impact Sewald has been effective in a number of roles since having his contract selected May 13, working three multi-inning outings and contributing four scoreless appearances in five trips to the mound overall. The right-hander has pitched to a 1.13 ERA and impressive 13:4 K:BB over his eight innings, while his two victories and Saturday's hold have given him some early, surprising fantasy relevance.

Impact He never logged an ERA lower than 4.55 across four seasons in the Mets' bullpen, so it's not surprising to see him cut loose. Sewald could end up settling for a minor-league deal this offseason.

Optioned off roster Sewald was optioned to the Mets' alternate training site Tuesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Impact Sewald has made five appearances out of the pen for the Mets this season, but things haven't gone at all well for him. He's allowed nine runs on 12 hits in six innings, walking four batters while striking out just two.

Sewald has a 5.06 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 2:2 K:BB through 5.1 innings, and his low-leverage role offers little fantasy appeal.
