ImpactGore entered the game in the eighth inning as a pinch runner for Tomas Nido. He promptly stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error, scoring later on a single by Brandon Nimmo. Since joining the Mets on Sept. 1, Gore has pinch-run three times, stealing a base each time. He has 43 stolen bases while compiling just 79 plate appearances in his eight-year big-league career.

After leading the league with 27 HBP in 2021, he's second in baseball this year with 21.

ImpactDeGrom was nearly unhittable through the first five innings, allowing a double to Oneil Cruz to begin the game before striking out 13 of the next 15 batters he faced. The Pirates got to him in the sixth, though, as the first two batters recorded singles and Cruz deposited a pitch into the seats for a three-run homer. DeGrom has allowed homers in four of his last five appearances and has allowed three runs in each of his last two starts. With Sunday's 13 punch outs, he's struck out 44.1 percent of batters faced this year. His next start will likely be next weekend in Oakland.

Walks have always been a bit of an issue for the 24-year-old but the problem has compounded since joining the Pirates as he's walked 21.5 percent of batters faced as a member of the team. He has a 4.61 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 16:14 K:BB in 13.2 innings in four starts as a Pirate. His next start will likely be next weekend against the Cubs.
