Jordan Hicks - First start pushed back to SundayHicks won't make his first career MLB start until Sunday's game in Milwaukee as a result of the Cardinals' game Monday against the Pirates being postponed due to inclement weather...ImpactThe Cardinals were initially scheduled to play seven games this week, but because of the rainout, the team will be able to reorder its pitching schedule for what will now be a six-game week. According to Goold, Hicks will be available out of the bullpen for Tuesday's game against the Royals if needed before beginning to prepare for Sunday's start. According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, the Cardinals plan to cap Hicks at around 45 pitches in his first start, and the right-hander is expected to be built up slowly from there. Manager Oliver Marmol suggested Monday that the Cardinals will be content if Hicks is able to reach four innings in his starts by the beginning of May, so the 25-year-old could struggle to work deep enough in his initial starts to factor into a decision.
