Jordan Hicks - First start pushed back to SundayHicks won't make his first career MLB start until Sunday's game in Milwaukee as a result of the Cardinals' game Monday against the Pirates being postponed due to inclement weather...
ImpactThe Cardinals were initially scheduled to play seven games this week, but because of the rainout, the team will be able to reorder its pitching schedule for what will now be a six-game week. According to Goold, Hicks will be available out of the bullpen for Tuesday's game against the Royals if needed before beginning to prepare for Sunday's start. According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, the Cardinals plan to cap Hicks at around 45 pitches in his first start, and the right-hander is expected to be built up slowly from there. Manager Oliver Marmol suggested Monday that the Cardinals will be content if Hicks is able to reach four innings in his starts by the beginning of May, so the 25-year-old could struggle to work deep enough in his initial starts to factor into a decision.

Dakota Hudson - Confirmed to start TuesdayThe Cardinals will push Hudson back one day in the pitching schedule and have him start Tuesday against the Royals after Monday's series finale with the Pirates was postponed due t...
ImpactAs a result of the rainout, the Cardinals will move No. 5 starter Jordan Hicks to the back of the pitching order, while the other three members of the rotation minus Hudson remain in line to start on the previously scheduled days. Because of the postponement, Hudson looks like he'll miss out on the two-start week. The Cardinals are planning to have Hicks make his first start in Milwaukee on Sunday, which would be the first day Hudson would be available to start following his outing Tuesday. As a result, look for the Cardinals to add another temporary starter to the mix to take the hill Saturday.

Jake Woodford - Solid in season debutWoodford allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three in three scoreless innings in Sunday's 9-4 loss to the Pirates.
ImpactWoodford was in contention for the fifth spot in the starting rotation right to the end of spring training, but Jordan Hicks ultimately won the job. Woodford's first turn as a long reliever this season was strong after Steven Matz (finger) was hit hard in three innings and developed a blister. The 25-year-old Woodford will continue to operate out of the bullpen, where he'll give the Cardinals a multi-inning option. That will limit his fantasy appeal, as his groundball style doesn't lead to enough strikeouts to make up for his lack of a starting role.
