Impact Kerr spent the last few weeks in the minors after being sent down in mid-May, but he will get another chance to show what he can do with the big club. He will provide depth in the bullpen for Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies and beyond.

Sent to minors The Padres optioned Kerr to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday.

Impact Kerr was sent packing to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for Blake Snell (groin), who was activated from the 10-day injured list in advance of his scheduled start Wednesday in Philadelphia. During his week-and-a-half-long stay with the big club, Kerr made two appearances out of the bullpen and gave up two earned runs over 1.1 innings.

Impact Kerr spent 11 days on the big-league roster earlier in the season but made just one appearance. He could see more opportunities this time around, as he'll be up to replace fellow lefty reliever Tim Hill, who hit the injured list with shoulder inflammation.

Impact The 27-year-old was acquired by the Padres in November and missed out on the Opening Day roster, but he'll join the big-league club Friday with Pierce Johnson (elbow) landing on the injured list. Kerr split the 2021 campaign between the Double-A and Triple-A levels, and he had a combined 3.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 60:16 K:BB across 39.2 innings.

Impact Kerr was traded to the Padres during the offseason, and he allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five in three innings across three relief appearances during Cactus League play. The left-hander will begin the year in the minors but will likely be in the mix to make his major-league debut at some point this season.

Traded to Padres Kerr and Corey Rosier were sent from the Padres to the Mariners on Saturday in exchange for Adam Frazier, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Kerr looked good in 39.2 innings in the upper minors last season, striking out 36.8 percent of opposing batters en route to a 3.18 ERA. He turned 27 in September, however, so those numbers may not be quite as exciting as they look on the surface. The lefty was added to the Mariners' 40-man roster to protect him from the Rule 5 draft prior to the deal, which should give him a good chance of making his debut for the Padres this season.
