Earns win Friday Olson (3-8) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits over 5.2 innings to earn the win Friday against the Reds. He walked two and struck out eight.

Impact While Reese's record isn't great, he's actually pitched quite well this season with a 3.22 ERA. The righty has been even better lately, posting a 1.88 ERA with 28 strikeouts across 24 innings in his last four starts. Reese was solid as a rookie last year, posting a 3.99 ERA over 21 games (18 starts), so it looks like he firmly belongs at this level. He'll look to keep up his strong recent play in his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Wednesday against the Guardians.

Impact The nine strikeouts are a new season high, though the three walks also matched a season high, as Olson was all over the place Saturday. He still managed a solid outing overall despite missing out on his third win of the year. The righty's 2-8 record isn't fitting of his 3.32 ERA and 1.20 WHIP across 89.1 innings this season. Olson will look for a little better luck and some more run support in his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Friday against the Reds.

Impact It was another excellent outing from Olson though he was ultimately stuck with the no-decision, despite allowing just one hit, as the Tigers' bullpen couldn't protect a 4-2 lead. Olson is 0-4 on the year despite holding opponents to one earned run or fewer in five of his seven starts. He lowered his ERA to 2.52 with a 1.12 WHIP and 35:15 K:BB across 39.1 innings. Olson will hope for better luck in his next turn in the rotation, currently scheduled for early next week against Miami.

The 24-year-old will take a 3.80 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB over 21.1 innings into his next start, projected for next weekend at home against the Royals.

He surrendered his only earned run on back-to-back hits to start the sixth and despite punching out the next two batters, Olson was lifted after 5.2 innings and 92 pitches, much to the dismay of fantasy managers in leagues that reward quality starts. After surrendering six earned runs to the Cubs on Aug. 22, Olson has held opponents to fewer than three tallies in six consecutive outings, posting a 1.51 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 35:13 K:BB across 35.2 innings. During that same stretch, the right-handed rookie lowered his season-long ERA from 5.29 to 3.99, considerably increasing his fantasy draft stock for the 2024 campaign.
