Throws live BP Tuesday Zastryzny (elbow) threw a live bullpen Tuesday, and he'll throw another later this week in front of a potential rehab assignment next week, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Impact Zastrynzy has been on the injured list with left ulnar neuritis since the middle of April, and it appears the southpaw has made quicker progress than anticipated. He'll likely need a week or so of rehab appearances, and then Zastrynzy has a chance to pitch in the middle of the Pittsburgh bullpen right around the start of June.

Shut down 7-10 weeks Zastryzny (elbow) will be shut down for 7-10 weeks after being diagnosed with left ulnar neuritis, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Impact That would figure to rule him out until at least July. Zastryzny likely will be moved to the 60-day injured list eventually.

Impact Zastryzny signed a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training back in December. The left-hander earned one of the final spots in the bullpen by throwing 7.1 scoreless innings in the Grapefruit League with a 10:1 K:BB. The 31-year-old has made only 24 appearances in the majors over four-plus seasons, but he'll have a chance to stick in the Pirates bullpen if he pitches well in the early part of 2023.
