Takes loss against Rays Ray (2-3) suffered the loss against the Rays on Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out five.
Impact Ray had one bad inning in the start -- Tampa Bay netted four runs against him in the fourth -- but that was enough to seal his fate on a night when Seattle produced only three runs. The southpaw nonetheless can take some positives away from the performance, as he racked up 15 swinging strikes and tossed his most innings since his first start of the campaign. Ray has gone at least six frames in all but one of his appearances this season and has a 4.38 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB across 30.1 innings. He's lined up to face Philadelphia at home early next week.

Struggles with control Saturday Ray (2-2) was charged with the loss against the Marlins on Saturday, allowing three earned runs on four hits and four walks across five innings while recording eight strikeouts.
Impact Ray had his swing-and-miss stuff in season-best form Saturday, but he also tied a season high with four walks. The veteran southpaw had mostly breezed through his first four frames before the Marlins got to him in the fifth with a pair of RBI singles and by drawing a free pass with the bases loaded. Ray's first opportunity to make up for the stumble is slated to come at home against the Rays either Thursday or Friday.

Solid in no-decision Ray struck out five in six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk in a 5-4 extra-inning win Sunday against Kansas City. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Ray allowed a pair of RBI doubles in the third inning but otherwise kept the Royals' lineup in check. He left the game with a 3-2 lead and was in position to earn the victory. A ninth-inning homer by Hunter Dozier erased that possibility. The lefty has thrown at least six innings in each start this season and leads all of baseball with 25.1 innings pitched. Surprisingly, Ray has been pitching more to contact and has only fanned 18 batters so far. His next start will likely be next weekend in Miami.

Wins quality start Ray (2-1) picked up the win during Tuesday's 6-2 victory over Texas, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings.
Impact Seattle jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning and Ray cruised from there, permitting single runs in the third and seventh innings and requiring just 85 pitches. It was a nice rebound from last starts six-run outing against the White Sox, and the 30-year-old has now gone at least six innings in each of his three turns. He's tentatively slated to pitch again this week on Sunday against Kansas City.

The left-hander was able to steady the ship until he allowed back-to-back homers to Anderson and Luis Robert in the seventh inning. All things considered, it wasn't a terrible outing for the veteran against a lineup that has notoriously dominated left-handed pitching. After signing a five-year, $115 million deal this past offseason, the 2021 AL Cy Young winner has struck out nine across 13.1 innings of work during his first two starts as a Mariner. Ray is tentatively scheduled to face the Rangers at home next Tuesday.

Impact Making his first start after landing a $115 million deal last offseason, Ray fired 96 pitches across seven innings of one-run ball. The lone blemish on his outing was a solo shot by Gio Urshela in the fourth frame. The 6-foot-2 southpaw has dealt with command issues throughout his career, registering a career 3.9 BB/9 entering the 2022 campaign, so the four walks shouldn't come as much of a surprise.
