Undergoes Tommy John surgery Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said Wednesday that Gasser underwent traditional Tommy John surgery Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Impact The pitcher was evidently not a candidate for the internal brace procedure, which would have shortened his timetable. A return for Gasser late in the 2025 season would still appear possible, but he likely won't be an integral part of the team's plans until 2026.

Impact Gasser will be out for the rest of the season and most of the 2025 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery Monday, so his move to the 60-day IL is hardly a surprise. He'll give up his 40-man roster spot to right-hander Joel Kuhnel, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Impact Gasser was diagnosed with a bone spur in his left elbow in late March but is ready to test things out in game action.
