Shifts to 60-day IL Suarez (knee) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Impact Suarez has been sidelined for the past month after undergoing knee surgery, and he'll now remain on the shelf until at least early August. The right-hander recently progressed to throwing bullpen sessions, and he should continue building up his workload over the next few weeks.

Tosses bullpen session Suarez (knee) threw a bullpen session Friday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Impact Suarez had orthoscopic surgery on his right knee June 9, and he's been working through a throwing progression since early July. The bullpen session Friday was his first since the surgery was performed. Suarez could be back shortly after the All-Star break. He posted a 3.09 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB over 23.1 innings while notching a save, two wins and five holds before going on the shelf.

Undergoes knee surgery Suarez recently underwent knee surgery to clean up "some loose impediments" and will be shut down for a few weeks, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Impact While it's discouraging that Suarez required a procedure to address his knee injury, it seems unlikely that he'll require a significant absence. The right-hander will spend more than the minimum of 15 days on the injured list, and a better timetable for his return should come into focus once he ultimately resumes throwing.

Placed on 15-day injured list Suarez was placed on the 15-day injured list with right knee inflammation Tuesday.

Impact Suarez struck out nine in six scoreless innings over his last six relief appearances, but he's apparently dealing with a knee injury that will force him to miss at least two weeks. A timetable for his return hasn't yet been revealed, but left-hander Adrian Morejon was recalled from Triple-A El Paso to take his place in the bullpen.

Impact With closer Taylor Rogers unavailable for San Diego, the team turned to Luis Garcia to hold a two-run, ninth-inning lead. He was unable to do so, but the Padres put up a pair of runs in the top of the 10th and handed the ball to Suarez in the bottom of the frame. The right-hander came through with his first career save despite allowing the inherited runner to score on a one-out single. Since being knocked around for three runs in his season debut, Suarez has posted a 2.20 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB across 16.1 innings.

Picks up third hold Tuesday Suarez earned a hold Tuesday against the Cubs, allowing one hit and striking out two in one scoreless inning.

Impact Suarez came on in the seventh inning with the Padres up by two runs. He gave up a two-out single but otherwise had no problem getting through the frame. The right-hander entered the season as the Padres' projected closer before the team traded for Taylor Rogers. Suarez had a rough first outing, giving up three earned runs without notching an out, but since then he has posted a 1.80 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB across 15 innings.
