Struggles in no-decision Stripling gave up seven runs (six earned) on eight hits and struck out two in three innings versus the Mariners on Monday. He did not factor in the decision.

Impact Stripling was spotted a four-run lead after two innings, but he gave it all back after allowing three homers in the third. The 30-year-old has struggled to pitch deep into games his last two times out, lasting just 7.2 innings combined in that span. The right-hander has a 5.61 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 22 strikeouts in 25.2 innings this season. Stripling is expected to make his next start Sunday versus the Rockies.

Impact Only two of the runs charged to Stripling were earned, though he played a part in his own demise with a third-inning throwing error that allowed a run to score and contributed to a five-run frame for San Diego. Four of those runs came on a grand slam by Manny Machado, and Stripling served up another long ball -- to Jurickson Profar -- in the fifth inning. The outing was the shortest of the campaign for Stripling, who saw his three-start win streak end with the loss. He'll try to get back on track when he heads down the road to face the Angels on Sunday in his next scheduled start.

Impact Stripling did not issue any walks and gave up his only damage of the night on a solo home run to Jaylin Davis in the third inning. The right-hander, who has found himself bouncing between starter and bullpen duties, most recently landed himself a spot in the rotation in replacement of David Price. With a new grip on his changeup, Stripling is proving that he can take on either end of the pitching role. Last season, the 30-year-old compiled a 3.47 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 101:20 K:BB across 32 appearances (15 starts).
