Placed on injured list The Twins placed Lewis on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Impact Lewis had to be taken out of Tuesday's game after tweaking his hamstring, and an MRI revealed a strain that will keep him out until at least the final day of the season. Jordan Luplow will return to Minnesota to replace Lewis on the active roster.

Impact As Hayes says, this situation is still very much to be determined, as a hamstring strain could mean the end of Lewis' regular-season play. The Twins are off Thursday, and Kyle Farmer figures to be an everyday player in the short term, especially with Carlos Correa (plantar fasciitis) landing on the injured list Wednesday.

Impact It's no surprise that Lewis won't play in Wednesday's day game after exiting with trainers Tuesday night with what is currently being categorized as hamstring tightness. Fortunately it seems he avoided re-injuring his right knee, which has been operated on twice. Lewis also spent time on the injured list this year with an oblique strain. Willi Castro is starting at third base and batting fifth. Minnesota has an off day Thursday prior to a weekend series at home against the Angels.

Dealing with hamstring tightness Lewis was removed from Tuesday's game against the Reds due to left hamstring tightness, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact Lewis initially stayed in the game after tweaking his hamstring in the sixth inning, but had to leave after further injuring himself during the eighth frame. Luckily, he's officially listed as day-to-day, so it appears Lewis avoided a significant injury. He could potentially miss a few games to recover before returning to Minnesota's lineup.

Impact Chicago's pitching staff wanted nothing to do with Lewis after he drove a Jesse Scholtens fastball over the fence in left field in the second inning with the bases loaded, giving Minnesota a lead it wouldn't relinquish. The 24-year-old third baseman also set a few different records with the blast. Per Joe Pollizze of MLB.com, his four grand slams in 2023 established a new franchise record for the Twins, while Sarah Langs of MLB.com notes that Lewis is the first player in MLB history with five slams among his first 16 career homers. His four grand slams in the last 18 games is also a new record, shattering the prior mark for the shortest such stretch -- 39 games by Don Mattingly in 1987. Lewis is putting together a massive September, slashing .288/.393/.615 through 14 games with five homers, 13 runs and 21 RBI as the Twins close in on an AL Central title.
