Dropped from 40-man roster Cordell was designated for assignment by the Mets on Monday.
Impact Cordell played a very small role for the Mets this season, grabbing one hit in eight trips to the plate. As a 28-year-old with a career .202/.263/.328 slash line in 121 major-league games, he's unlikely to be anything other than a fringe player next season.

Designated for assignment Cordell was designated for assignment by the Mets on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Cordell will be the roster casualty after the Mets added Ariel Jurado in a trade from the Rangers in a corresponding move. He spent just a week on the Mets' active roster, going 1-for-4 at the plate in limited action.
