Impact Yarbrough followed an opener his last time out and will do so again Thursday for the ninth time this season. The left-hander has struggled over 11 starts since the All-Star break with a 6.50 ERA, though he's given up only four runs on seven hits with an 8:0 K:BB across 12 frames in his past two outings.

Fires six shutout frames Yarbrough (9-6) allowed two hits over six scoreless innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Marlins.

Impact Yarbrough was terrific in Friday's win, allowing just one batter to reach scoring position in his scoreless outing. He took the mound in the second inning after David Robertson opened the game with a shutout frame. Over his previous three appearances, Yarbrough was hammered for 18 runs over 10.1 innings and he now owns a 5.09 ERA. The 29-year-old southpaw is projected to take the mound in Houston next week.

Impact The southpaw entered the game after Collin McHugh in the third inning, and while Yarbrough was able to wiggle out of the jam McHugh left for him, he didn't have the same luck in the fourth or fifth frames. Yarbrough needed 77 pitches (46 strikes) to record only seven outs, and he's been tagged for seven earned runs in back-to-back outings while giving up at least five in five of nine appearances since the All-Star break. His 7.50 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB through 42 innings in the second half should keep him far away from active fantasy rosters down the stretch.

Limits Red sox to two runs in win Yarbrough (8-4) allowed two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out three over six innings to record the win over the Red Sox on Tuesday.

Impact Yarbrough didn't start off too well after allowing a first-inning run, but he would settle in thereafter and hold the Red Sox scoreless until Kyle Schwarber took him deep in the sixth for a solo home run. Tuesday's performance was a major relief for the southpaw, as he'd previously struggled mightily against the division rivals this season while allowing 16 earned runs on 18 hits over 12 innings. Tuesday marked the third time in his last four starts Yarbrough managed to not issue a walk, and it's just the second time since the beginning of July he's managed to pitch at least six innings. The 29-year-old now owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 104:23 K:BB over 134 innings and tentatively lines up for a rematch with Boston on Monday.

Impact Despite not missing many bats, Yarbrough wasn't hit hard as he didn't allow any extra-base hits. His performance made it surprising that he was pulled after only 55 pitches, especially considering he had thrown 70 and completed five innings in his previous outing. Assuming he is allowed to work deeper into his next appearance, Yarbrough has shown some positive signs by not allowing any home runs across nine frames since being activated from the injured list Aug. 18. For the season, he has a 4.57 ERA with a 101:23 K:BB across 128 innings.
