Dealt to Phillies Coonrod (shoulder) was traded from the Giants to the Phillies in exchange for right-hander Carson Ragsdale on Saturday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN reports.
Impact Coonrod performed fairly well during his first major-league season in 2019, but he was unable to generate much production last year, converting on three of his five save chances while posting a 9.82 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over 14.2 innings. The right-hander was hindered by a shoulder injury late in the season, but he should be healthy heading into spring training. He'll attempt to generate more of a rhythm for the Phillies, although Hector Neris has a fairly stable grip on the closing job heading into 2021.

Impact Coonrod was experiencing shoulder discomfort when he came out of Friday's game, and he won't be available for at least 10 days as a result. It's unclear whether he could be available if the Giants make a run in the playoffs. Right-hander Rico Garcia was recalled to take his place in the bullpen.

Blown save in nightcap Coonrod allowed three runs on two hits and a walk while fanning one in one-third of an inning and was tagged with the loss against the Padres on Friday.
Impact Coonrod entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning looking to close things out for the Giants, but he didn't have his best stuff and the Padres took advantage of that. He recorded one out and allowed two baserunners -- from a single and a walk -- before allowing a walkoff homer to Trent Grisham. This was Coonrod's second straight blown save, and he might be removed from late-inning duties moving forward, although that'll only be relevant if the Giants make the playoffs.

Collects third save Coonrod earned the save against Colorado on Tuesday, pitching a perfect ninth inning and striking out two.
Impact Coonrod was called upon to protect a three-run lead and succeeded with ease, throwing 10 of his 12 pitches for strikes and punching out a pair. The right-hander has now struck out nine batters over his last six innings and appears to be a trusted ninth-inning option for a team without an established closer. His three saves this season rank second on the squad to the four collected by the injured Trevor Gott (elbow).
