Out eight weeks after knee surgery Huff (hamstring) underwent surgery to have a loose body removed from his knee and will be sidelined about eight weeks, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 23-year-old landed on the injured list with a hamstring injury to open the season, but he was also apparently battling a knee issue. It's expected to be about eight weeks before Huff will be cleared to hit in games, but his ability to work behind the plate this season is currently up in the air.

Impact Huff always would have been an undergo to break camp in the big leagues, as he skipped the two highest levels of the minors to make his 10-game debut last season. A hamstring strain suffered early in camp seemingly took him out of the mix entirely. He's entering the home stretch of his recovery, but he'll likely head to the minor leagues once healthy.

Impact Huff will undergo one more MRI before ramping up to full activity. The power-hitting catching prospect made his MLB debut during the shortened 2020 season but skipped Double- and Triple-A to do it. The Rangers may have Huff start the season in the minors while Jose Trevino and Jonah Heim handle catching duties for Texas.

Cleared for light activity The Rangers announced Tuesday that Huff (hamstring) has recently resumed light baseball activities, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Impact Huff still appears to be a ways off from taking full batting practice and defensive drills, so he could be placed on the 10-day injured list when the Rangers set their Opening Day roster. If that's the case, Jose Trevino and Jonah Heim would likely break camp as the Rangers' top two catchers.

Injures hamstring Huff suffered a grade 2 hamstring strain while running the bases and will be shut down for two weeks, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Huff will rehab for the next two weeks before the team administers an MRI to determine the next steps. He was not expected to break camp with the Rangers and is now doubtful to get any meaningful at-bats in major-league camp. "Obviously it pushes everything back," manager Chris Woodward said. "It may not impact when we would have called him up, it may impact the amount of at-bats he has before we call him up... He still needs to get reps." Huff made his MLB debut last season when Texas fell out of contention, hitting .355 with three home runs and four RBI in 31 at-bats.
