Michael Wacha - Placed on 15-day IL Wacha was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 2, with right shoulder inflammation.

Impact Wacha has been battling shoulder fatigue in recent weeks, though he was able to deliver five innings of one-run ball this past Saturday against the Reds to earn his eighth win of the season. He'll be eligible to return to the Padres' rotation shortly after the All-Star break.

Nelson Cruz - Designated for assignment Cruz was designated for assignment by the Padres on Tuesday.

Impact Cruz signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Padres over the winter and was getting fairly regular starts in the DH role, but he has suddenly been dropped from the 40-man roster after ultimately slashing just .245/.283/.399 with five homers and 23 RBI across 49 games. Rougned Odor looks poised for an uptick in playing time as part of the fallout from this move. He is at third base Tuesday with Manny Machado taking a turn as the DH.

Yu Darvish - Aims for weekend return Darvish (illness) said Tuesday that he's aiming to return to the Padres' rotation this weekend against the Mets, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Impact Darvish hasn't pitched since June 21 due to a viral illness that caused him to lose about seven pounds, but he is beginning to regain his strength and should be able to fit in one more outing before the All-Star break. When healthy this season, the veteran right-hander has gone 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 85:25 K:BB in 14 starts covering 80 innings.

Luis Campusano - Begins rehab assignment Campusano (thumb) is beginning a rehab assignment Tuesday in the Arizona Complex League, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Impact Campusano is recovered from May 12 surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb and could return to the Padres' active major-league roster after the All-Star break as an option at catcher, first base and DH.

Impact Cronenworth notched an RBI single in the fourth inning, a sacrifice fly in the sixth and another RBI single in the seventh.
