Jose Azocar - Heads out on rehab assignment Azocar (elbow) was cleared Friday to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Azocar has been sidelined since May 3 with inflammation in his left elbow, but he would appear on track to be an option again for the Padres' outfield sometime next week. The 27-year-old was slashing just .244/.262/.293 in 20 games (45 plate appearances) with San Diego prior to the IL stint.

Manny Machado - Headed for injured list The Padres placed Machado (hand) on the 10-day injured list Friday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Machado was initially expected to only miss a couple of games when he left Monday's game against Kansas City after taking a pitch to the hand, but additional X-rays revealed a fracture in his left hand Wednesday. The Padres have yet to offer a timeline for Machado's return, but it's possible he's unable to come off the IL when first eligible May 27. Brandon Dixon was called up Friday to fill Machado's spot on the active roster.

Impact X-rays revealed a fracture in Machado's left hand Wednesday, and the Padres have yet to provide more information on how long he might be out for. Ha-Seong Kim will slide to third base Friday, moving Jake Cronenworth to second base which gives Brandon Dixon a start at first.

Impact Dahl is recovered from his quad injury but will remain in El Paso for now and hope for a call-up. The 29-year-old was 1-for-9 at the plate during his short time with the Padres.

Yu Darvish - Knocked around Darvish (2-3) took the loss Wednesday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against the Royals. He struck out six.
Impact Darvish was in control through five innings, having allowed just one run, Darvish started the sixth by walking Bobby Witt then gave up three extra-base hits before being pulled. The sixth inning pushed Darvish's ERA up to 3.56 and his WHIP to 1.13. The righty is tentatively scheduled to face the Nationals in his next start.
