Brent Honeywell Jr. - Signs with Friars Honeywell signed a one-year deal with the Padres on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Honeywell spent all of last season in the Athletics' farm system, posting a 7.79 ERA and 2.05 WHIP with Triple-A Las Vegas while also rehabbing an elbow injury. When healthy, Honeywell has shown an ability to strike batters out at a high rate, which will help him compete for a spot on the Padres' big-league pitching staff.

Fernando Tatis Jr. - Cleared for baseball activites Tatis (shoulder/wrist/suspension) was cleared to begin participating in baseball activities Friday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Impact Tatis underwent shoulder and wrist surgeries in September and October, respectively, and he went through successful rehab program over the past few months. The 23-year-old will now ramp up his baseball work in the coming weeks and is expected to be ready for the start of spring training in February. Though it appears he'll be healthy for the start of the 2023 campaign, Tatis must sit out the first 20 games of the season to finish out the 80-game suspension he received in August after he tested positive for PEDs. The earliest he can make his season debut is April 20 against the Diamondbacks.

Impact Font has been given an invitation to major-league spring training. The 32-year-old is coming off a successful two-year stint in Korea, having posted a 2.69 ERA over 28 starts for the SSG Landers in 2022. Font figures to be used as a starter initially in camp but has plenty of past major-league relief experience, too.
