ImpactWalker broke out of an early skid with walks in the fourth and eighth innings sandwiching a homer in the sixth. The 31-year-old should see steady run in the middle of Arizona's weak lineup and is a fringe asset if he can approach his 2019 numbers.

Cooper Hummel - Crushes first big-league homerHummel went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 10-5 loss to the Padres.
ImpactHummel walked in the third inning and made the final score more respectable with a 439-foot shot to center in the ninth. Manager Torey Lovullo appears to like the 27-year-old in the leadoff spot against southpaws though he'll need to progress further than the weak side of a platoon to have consistent value.

ImpactMarte doubled and stole third in the first inning and later tacked on a walk in the eighth. Arizona's best player had reached base just once through the first three games of the season and it was even more encouraging to see Marte active on the bases after only 3 steals across 135 games in 2020 and 2021 combined.

Caleb Smith - Can't escape second inningSmith (0-1) got the loss in Sunday's 10-5 defeat at the hands of the Padres, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits and three walks with two strikeouts in one inning.
ImpactSmith started strong, recording both his strikeouts during a 1-2-3 first inning, but walked two batters and served up two long balls following a fielding error and was subsequently removed. It's a poor opening for the 30-year-old, who's looking to rebound from a down 2021 season that featured a 4.83 ERA and stints in and out of the starting rotation.
