Fans nine over six scorelessKikuchi allowed three hits and one walk over six scoreless innings in a no-decision against the A's on Saturday. He struck out nine.
ImpactThis was a big improvement on Kikuchi's first start (five runs on five hits and four walks with four strikeouts over 3.2 innings in Houston). He induced 20 swinging strikes on 89 pitches and fell just one strikeout short of tying his career high. Kikuchi had some buzz back in spring training due to the increased velocity he was showing and indeed his fastball is up several ticks. The lefty is still probably best viewed as a streamer, but he could separate himself from the pack with a few more starts like this. Kikuchi gets the Rockies at home next week.

Provides lone run with homerGrisham went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Rockies.
ImpactGrisham knocked his third homer of the season in the eighth inning against Rockies reliever Yency Almonte, breaking up the shutout. The 23-year-old Grisham has provided solid counting starts with two steals, six RBI and 10 runs scored in nine games this year. He's hitting .273 in 33 at-bats this year, an improvement on the .231 mark he had in 156 at-bats with the Brewers in 2019.

ImpactQuantrill entered the game in the second inning after Joey Lucchesi worked himself into a jam. Both of Quantrill's appearances this season have come in relief of Lucchesi -- the duo seem to be working in tandem. The right-handed Quantrill has a 4.76 ERA and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings in 2020. A starter by trade, Quantrill is capable of picking up long assignments in relief. The results so far have been mixed in a small sample.

ImpactOwings scored on an error by Padres starter Joey Lucchesi in the second inning after getting aboard on a single. He would single and steal second in the third before capping off the three-hit performance by plating Matt Kemp in the fifth. This was just Owings' second start of the season, and the first time he was able to record a hit. The 28-year-old hit only .139 with five steals and three homers in 67 games between the Red Sox and Royals last season.
