Signs with AngelsRamirez signed a contract with the Angels on Sunday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
ImpactRamirez was let go by Cincinnati on Saturday but will rejoin his former team just one day later. The terms of the deal aren't yet clear, but the agreement isn't expected to be a major-league contract, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. The right-hander will have to clear intake protocols before joining the club. Although Ramirez will likely begin the year in the minors, he could return to the major-league bullpen at some point after posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 21 relief innings with the team last year.

Masterful in final spring startSnell hurled five scoreless innings against the Angels in a Cactus League contest Saturday, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out six.
ImpactSnell concludes his first spring as Padre without yielding a run across 14.1 frames. Collectively, the southpaw gave up only five hits while posting a 13:4 K:BB. He's slated to start San Diego's second game of the regular season, Friday at home against Arizona.

Gets demotedThe Angels optioned Buttrey to their minor-league camp Sunday.
ImpactAfter accruing 11 saves and 34 holds across the past three seasons, Buttrey appeared in good shape to make the Opening Day roster as a high-leverage reliever for Anaheim. While he wasn't especially sharp this spring (3.86 ERA, 1.86 WHIP in seven innings), Buttrey's demotion still comes as a surprise. Offseason pickup Raisel Iglesias is locked in as the Angels' closer, but the bullpen looks quite unsettled after the top option.

On roster bubbleWeathers remains a candidate to open the season on the big-league roster, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
ImpactWeathers struggled in a Cactus League start against the Mariners on Friday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four over 2.2 innings. His numbers overall this spring, which include a 7.11 ERA and 1.66 WHIP, aren't exactly impressive, but he has struck out 15 batters in 12.2 innings. San Diego's bullpen has been hit by multiple injuries of late, so Weathers could fill a long-relief role if he makes the cut. The left-hander could also feasibly used as a starter if the Padres decide to go with a six-man rotation.
