ImpactCarlton earned a shot with the big club posting a 1.12 ERA and 18:5 K:BB over 16 innings with El Paso. The right-hander saw some brief action in the majors with the Tigers from 2021-22, holding a 2.92 ERA across nine appearances.

Ryan Weathers - Optioned to Triple-ASan Diego optioned Weathers to Triple-A El Paso on Monday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

ImpactWeathers allowed four runs over 5.2 innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Sunday, and he'll head back to El Paso to continue work as a starter and stay on rotation. The Padres haven't announced a corresponding transaction yet, but it appears Drew Carlton could be joining the San Diego bullpen before Monday's game against the Royals.
