Johnny Cueto - Returns to throwingCueto (elbow) played catch Wednesday for the first time since being placed on the injured list, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ImpactManager Gabe Kapler said Sept. 8 that Cueto would be shut down from throwing for at least another 10 days, but the right-hander apparently received clearance a bit ahead of schedule. The 35-year-old will need to resume mound work before his potential activation timeline is considered, and it's unclear at this point if he'll be able to return before the end of the regular season.

Alex Dickerson - Continuing rehab stintDickerson (hamstring) will remain on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento for the near future, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
ImpactDickerson is 3-for-13 through four games with Sacramento, and he'll remain there for the immediate future to keep receiving at-bats. The 31-year-old was 2-for-17 in his last seven games before picking up the hamstring injury and has a .235/.303/.426 slash line for the season. The Giants have a plethora of lineup option after Tommy La Stella and Evan Longoria returned from lengthy stays on the injured list, so Dickerson may not be guaranteed an everyday role once activated.
