Bryce Johnson - Clears waivers The Giants outrighted Johnson to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

Impact Johnson will stick around in the organization after going unclaimed off waivers when the Giants designated him for assignment last week. The switch-hitting outfielder has appeared in 30 games at the big-league level in 2023, slashing .163/.229/.256 with one home run and three stolen bases across 48 plate appearances. Johnson should continue to play fairly regularly at Sacramento for the rest of the season.

Impact Before landing on the injured list in mid-August with a mid-back strain, Stripling had covered at least four innings in each of his seven outings with the Giants following the All-Star break. With that in mind, his light workload Friday was somewhat surprising, and it could be an indication that the Giants may not intend to bring him back as a traditional starter. San Francisco has been getting by with four regular starters of late in Logan Webb, Alex Cobb, Kyle Harrison and Tristan Beck and has been deploying Sean Manaea as a primary pitcher out of the bullpen in lieu of a fifth starter.

Impact Webb was stuck with his third straight loss even though he managed to earn a quality start. The 26-year-old has seen his strikeout rate drop significantly post-All-Star break to 6.8 K/9 after being 9.1 in first half. Webb has also produced an unspectacular 4.27 ERA over 61 innings in his 10 second half starts.
