Impact Mathias was acquired by the Giants ahead of the trade deadline and will now receive his first look with the big club. The 29-year-old played in 22 games for the Pirates earlier in the season and had a .231/.355/.269 slash line in 62 plate appearances.

Casey Schmitt - Optioned to minors Schmitt was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

Impact Schmitt has been up with the big club since early May and has at times served as San Francisco's primary shortstop, but he'll head back to the minors with a .548 OPS in 218 plate appearances. Brandon Crawford has struggled in his own right this year with a .211/.281/.349 slash line, so Schmitt could receive another look in the majors before the end of the campaign.

Impact Walker put two of the three batters he faced on base, and Scott Alexander allowed one of them to score the decisive run. Impact Stripling has often worked behind an opener this season, but he was on the mound from the start Saturday. It's a vast improvement on his season-long marks (5.21 ERA, 1.28 WHIP), though that control is almost certainly too good to last in the long run. Impact Harrison missed about a month of action with a right hamstring strain. The southpaw was a bit wild in the outing, but it's a positive that he's back in action. Harrison will still need to build back up somewhat, though it's possible he could also be summoned to the majors as a reinforcement for the Giants' bullpen at some point before the end of the campaign.
